Pea Ridge (Arkansas) National Battlefield June 2, 2012

I took a trip to the Pea Ridge National Battlefield in Arkansas to scout it out for the boys.  As long time readers know, Dale loves going to Civil War battle sites and his daddy loves taking him. :)  (I’ll encourage a love of history all I can!)

I snapped pictures throughout my surprisingly tough 7 mile hike.  I can’t imagine walking this battlefield with people shooting at me like the soldiers who fought and died there.

With the pictures below, you can right click and open them in a new window to see the photo at twice the size.

It’s weird living a Catch-22

I read a blog entry by an outstanding singer/guitarist/dude named Shaun Groves where in the comments he mentioned the reason Compassion International usually takes only women on their blogger trips is because the men have to work.  As a result, it’s rare you see a male blogger writing about the problems around the world that various groups like Compassion are trying to fight.

It had me thinking about my current situation. READ MORE »

Stones River National Battlefield

Today the boys and I visited the Stones River National Battlefield.  Dale inherited a lot of things from me and I’m happy one of the good ones is an interest in Civil War history.

I want to thank my parents up front for providing the gas money for us to be able to take the trip today.   It killed me that I couldn’t afford to even pay for gas for us to take this trip but I’m fortunate to have parents that can help us out right now.

One of my new prayers is for God to provide a way for us to take the boys to Shiloh.  Dale really wants to see that battlefield and become a Junior Ranger there.

Here’s pictures and comments from the day…and make sure to check out the special video at the end!! READ MORE »

I’m back home in Nashville and honestly…I’m exhausted.  So there won’t be many captions to the pictures.  As with the previous four entries, if you want to see a larger photo right click and view it in a new tab.  All these pictures were taken on my second day in town.

The first set of photos are folks from my home church working on a house that was crushed under trees. READ MORE »

I’m back home from a whirlwind weekend celebrating Dale’s 10th birthday and his gaining his Webelos badge.  I’m so proud of my little guy but I can’t believe he’s into double digits already.  When you’re divorced and don’t have primary custody of your kids, the speed they grow up increases exponentially.

Here’s my birthday boy: READ MORE »
